Coach Ellis began his basketball journey at Holy Cross High School, where he played from 2010 to 2014. After high school, he continued his athletic career at Westmoreland County Community College, where he played for two years. During his time there, he earned notable accolades, including Region 20 Sixth Man of the Year and Freshman of the Year. In his sophomore year, he helped lead the team to the Region Tournament for the first time in 20 years.
In 2016, Coach Ellis was recognized as one of the top point guards in NJCAA Division II. Though he received offers to continue playing at the next level, he chose to return home to start a family and care for his son, which marked the end of his playing career at Brescia University.
In 2018, Coach Ellis transitioned to coaching, beginning as an assistant coach at Shawnee High School, where he served for three years. He also founded and ran his own AAU program, Louisville Storm, furthering his commitment to developing young talent. His leadership at Shawnee High School culminated in becoming the head coach at a young age, where he guided the team to two regional championships in three seasons and took them to the regional tournament for the first time in 10 years.
Coach Ellis has played a pivotal role in sending numerous players to collegiate programs, with many continuing their basketball careers. Currently, he coaches with B-Elite Basketball, conducts individual workouts, and is committed to becoming a better father and family man while nurturing the next generation of basketball players.
